Press Release Body: Dwight, Ontario - In early 2008, environmentalists Kim and Marilyn Smith of Camp Tanamakoon Limited purchased long time Algonquin Park accommodation property the Pines Cottage Resort (http://www.algonquinparkaccommodations.com). With their recent acquisition of the Pines Cottage Resort, the Smiths now operate three distinctly different Algonquin Park tourist properties that all exercise the most up to date environmental friendly practises available.
"The Pines Cottage Resort will be operated using the same strong environmental ethic as our other properties. It is our way of running our businesses and has been for more than 20 years", states owner Kim Smith. "Bartlett Lodge and Camp Tanamakoon, our two other Algonquin Park accommodation properties, are noted for their extensive use of products and technologies that are environmentally friendly and make a lighter footprint on our fragile northern environment. We have set the environmental standards for the Pines just as high, because we want to preserve the unspoiled beauty of our natural wilderness for generations to come" adds Smith.
The Smiths\' other Algonquin Park businesses are Camp Tanamakoon for girls and Bartlett Lodge, a Modified American Plan Resort, located in the heart of Algonquin Park. Operated by the Smiths\' for over 20 years, both Bartlett Lodge and Camp Tanamakoon are historic old Muskoka Ontario landmarks that now have the reputation of being environmentally friendly as well. From site-friendly septic systems to solar-powered buildings and electric boat motors, their commitment to the environment is evident in every decision they make. Another significant choice they have made was to sign on with Bullfrog Power, the first 100% green electricity retailer in Ontario and essentially pay a premium for renewable electricity.
The Smiths\' experience in the resort industry and their knowledge of the local area means The Pines Cottage Resort will build on its already strong reputation as a quiet friendly retreat on the doorstep of Algonquin Park. With the implementation of environmentally friendly and non-polluting practices into its day-to-day operations, guests at the Pines will be able to enjoy the beauty of the Algonquin Park area for years to come.
